Senior Biologist / Project Manager

Orange County/Inland Empire - Remote

ELMT Consulting is a leading environmental planning and consulting firm dedicated to providing sustainable solutions for a wide range of field biological consulting projects. ELMT Consulting supports a virtual work environment except when there is need to visit project sites and customers’ offices. Our projects are located throughout California, but principally in Riverside and San Bernardino Counties.

  • Would have interest in working directly with agencies such as county and city planning departments, California Department of Fish and Wildlife, Army Corp of Engineers, and Regional Water Quality Control Boards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research existing data sources, perform field investigations to document baseline conditions of the existing environment, and then summarize your findings and recommendations. 

  • Lead biology surveys, including biological reconnaissance, vegetation mapping, rare plant surveys, jurisdictional delineations, focused species surveys, pre-construction clearance surveys, and monitoring for construction and restoration projects.

  • Draft and review due diligence/constraints reports, focused survey reports, GIS mapping, jurisdictional delineation reports, monitoring reports, restoration/mitigation plans, regional conservation plan consistency documents and biological technical reports, including impact analysis and mitigation measures for multiple jurisdictions.

  • Lead client meetings, manage clients and work product. 

  • Lead regulatory and wildlife permitting.  

  • Propose, develop, and execute mutually agreeable business development plans, proposals, and work plans. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biological or Environmental Science.

  • 4+ years of biological consulting field work.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in technical writing and report preparation.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks effectively, and meet deadlines.
